Chapter 1

Before you read this, please read the first post on this blog, from yesterday
=================================
I hadn’t noticed how few trees there are in this park. Without them, the wind cuts so deep. I guess the walks from work to my apartment will need to stop now, I didn’t realize how bitter late fall was going to be in this town. Never thought it would be such a reminder of home. That’s one of the downfalls of moving to somewhere you’ve never really visited, especially during the summer. I was totally unprepared for this nastiness, and looks like my hoodie is just not going to do enough for me here in the winter.

It’s also a lot darker out in the evenings than it was at home. Maybe it just feels that way. Who puts only one light in a park? I’ll have to talk to someone about that, although, I’m pretty sure the Board of Trustees is getting sick of me. I haven’t even been in town five whole months, but I have certainly said my share at all five of their meetings. Maybe I’ll let this one go for a month, take a break from pissing the town off for a bit. That might help me shake some of the paranoia that someone is always watching me.

This wind is really picking up. Never seen leaves move so fast. They look like they are playing rugby. It has to be the leaves in the wind, but all of this noise is making me extra tense. Have I really gotten this bad? No one in this town is even awake this late except for me and Tom and a couple others from the restaurant. I wish cell phones worked in this place. I wish there was more than one light in this park. Just let me get to the light pole, I’ll feel better if I can stop th… where did the light go?

One light in the whole park and it goes out right now? Seriously? Somehow I don’t think this is a coincidence. Are those voices? That has to be just leaves blowing. There is no one out here!

“HELLO? Tom? Is that you? Dude, what is going on?”

“shut up.”

What was that? It sounded like it was coming from all around me. One voice from more than one direction?

“Who’s out there? What is going on?”

“silence.”

Again, from everywhere, the same voice. It feels like it’s piercing right into me.

The light comming through the window stabs my eyes awake. What a dream I had last night! That was just creepy. I should probably right it down, talk to Alli about it tomorrow. I think my paranoia is getting the best of me. The people here are nice enough, they are just as suspicious of me as I am of them, I’m sure. I should try talking to some of them somewhere other than the Town Hall or Zeke’s.

I need a shave and a shower. I’m so stiff from sleeping on my couch, again, staring at the television until God knows how late. Maybe that’s why I had such a bizarre dream. As I get to the bathroom, I turn on the shower and catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror.

“What the Hell?” I look from the mirror down my arms. Black and blue. Arms, chest, even my pelvis are all bruised! I look like I got hit by a car! What happened to me last night?
=============================

So there you have it, our narrator/subject has recently moved to a small town wehre it gets cold and he works at a restaurant named Zeke's with someone named Tom, lives in an appartment and expects to talk to someone named Alli in the near future. He wakes up from what he believes was a dream with his entire torso covered in bruises. WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?!?! Post in comments!

Oh, and check out my personal blog, if you get time... I am extreemely covetous of feedback, right now!

invitation

I want to tell a story, but I don't want to do it alone... I want to tell a story that I have done no developement on, so far, but I don't want to do it alone... I want to tell a story, and I want you to tell it with me...

My idea is simple... tomorrow I am going to post the first little bit of a story to get the ball rolling... where ever I stop, I want a reader to pickup... I would love for multiple readers to post a comment with how they think the story should continue... if 1 person posts, that's where we'll go... if no one posts, I'll post the next step after a few days, until someone joins me... if we ever get to the point where more than one reader is adding to the story, I'll pick whichever I like best and we'll move on from there... follow? As the administrator of this little experiment, I'll round things out, keep us moving, and contribute things to the story, myself, but... I don't want to do it alone!
